Originally built in 1848. In 1873, mistress was Sophia PEMBERTON. James LEAROYD was master here from before 1900 to after 1926 - a marathon stint!  His wife may have taught the girls, too.

The Quarrymen (including John Lennon and Paul McCartney) played together for the first time at a fair in St Peter’s Church Hall in July 1957, and that they also played in the Scout Hut which stood in the grounds.

The Infants - left in 1971 (courtesy of Liverpool Record Office), and below in 2006 - no longer used.  The house on the right hand side is called School Cottage.  Church Rd was miraculously free of traffic in 1971 - I don’t remember it being like this at all!

Below - the Juniors - a very fine building, erected in 1880.  St Peter’s had a school from the 1840s.  It may have been contained on the site which was later the Infants’ and expanded up here.
